Not only can moving be stressful for you, but it turns out it can be pretty stressful on a pine tree, too. That’s because the average move requires 60 boxes, or more than half of 1 ton of pine tree, according to the infographic below from MyMove.com.

A low-waste move can save some pine, and there are a number of ways you can lower your impact. Renting boxes is one way to go, but if you choose to use cardboard boxes, heed the advice below and recycle them or reuse them around your house — those 660 boxes the typical American uses to move in a lifetime really add up.
