What’s better than a sexy actor? A sexy actor who’s loves the Earth and is unabashedly eco-friendly.

Leonardi DiCaprio has been known for philanthropic support of environmental causes, especially those related to wildlife preservation. His self-titled foundation is only the beginning of his eco-friendly philanthropy. In addition to using The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation to protect animals from extinction, save the ocean and provide clean water for people in places such as Sierra Leone and Darfur, DiCaprio also finds time to partner with organizations such as the World Wildlife Fund, The Natural Resources Defense Council and Global Green USA.

Brad Pitt financially supported Global Green’s affordable housing development for the foundation’s Holy Cross Project in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina. In addition, EOnline.com reports the chiseled heartthrob has teamed up with cosmetics giant Kiehl’s to produce Biodegradable Body Cleanser, whose profits go directly to JPF Eco Systems, an organization dedicated to “global environmental initiatives that minimize the impact” through “thoughtful design.”

Matt Damon was the man during the 2010 Hurricane that destroyed the lives of many Haitians over 4 years ago. Instead of sitting on some hot, brightly-lit stage urging all of us to text pledges of financial help, he was seen literally delivering fresh food, water and aid to those in need. No PR scheme necessary. In addition to his humanitarian spirit, Ben Affleck’s best friend was honored as the Ongoing Commitment Honoree at the 2013 Environmental Media Awards for his devotion to helping people acquire access to clean water.

Vampire Diaries hunk Ian Somerhalder is clearly passionate about environmental issues and animal rights. The Ian Somerhalder Foundation’s mission is to “empower, educate and collaborate with people and projects to positively impact the planet and its creatures.” Somerhalder’s organization distributes funds toward green energy development and education, global conservation efforts and provides awareness regarding the harmful impact of manmade activities such as global deforestation.

Brokeback Mountain star Jake Gyllenhaal is known for taking ownership of his poignant roles, but after working on disaster film The Day After Tomorrow, he’s become more environmentally aware in real life. “I think I was brought up pretty aware of the environment. We had Earth Day at my school, and I was always pretty conscious of it. But I don’t think I was ever really conscious of the ramifications of the environment, or more importantly what corporations in the world do, or have done,” he told BBC. “[The Day After Tomorrow] made me much more aware of how dire it is now, because something like this could happen. When a science fiction director like Roland Emmerich decides to find science fiction in reality, something’s wrong. It’s a little scary.”
